The "Green Team - Gampaha" team, which is jointly implemented by the Gampaha District Secretariat and the Gampaha Divisional Secretariat, has started its work for the year 2026. As a step to protect the ecological balance, the activities of cleaning, rearranging, replanting plants in places where there is space and planting betel saplings around the plants planted in the urban forests established within the Gampaha District Secretariat premises were carried out January 9th at the District Secretariat premises under the patronage of the District Secretary/Government Agent Lalinda Gamage.

The primary objective of this is to create an environment with mental well-being and minimize air pollution by planting a number of valuable plants such as Nedunum, Mee, Hora, Kumbuk, Kaluwara, Kok, etc., giving value to the environment and creating places with as much forest as possible in an environment with industrialization, technology and buildings.
The "Green Team - Gampaha" team of the "Green Team" program, which has been in operation since March 2024, is comprised of 40 volunteers and hardworking officers attached to the Gampaha District Secretariat and the Gampaha Divisional Secretariat. The event was attended by the Additional District Secretary, Gampaha Asiri Weerasekara, Gampaha Divisional Secretary, Nadeeshani Amarasinghe, Assistant District Secretary, Nilanthi Kumari, Gampaha Assistant Divisional Secretary, Upeksha Kapurubandara, Gampaha Agriculture Director, Sandhya Kumari, Administrative Officer, W.S.W. Rodrigue, and the "Green Team" team of the District Secretariat and Gampaha Divisional Secretariat.
